FGC6 – New Date and Location

Due to the spread of COVID-19 and the limited options provided, the FGC will be moving its previously scheduled event from Hilton Head Island, SC to the green mountains of Northeast, PA. The event is set to take place May 28 – May 31st.

A few changes were necessary to ensure that the tournament goes smoothly. Not only will four separate courses be required, but multiple lodging locations were secured to adhere to the Pennsylvania’s social distancing guidelines.

The other major change is the temporary withdrawal of Adam Strittmattter from Team Red. With US travel restrictions in place, it would have been difficult for Adam to return to the UK after the event. After much deliberation with his family, he decided that passing on this years event was the prudent choice. As a result, Team Red added Mike Grassel to fill their vacancy. With Mike’s addition, Red’s ‘average rounds played per year’ doubled, giving them something they haven’t had since 2015 when Andy, Adam and Chris actually golfed consistently.

Player Overview: Mike is a strong addition to Team Red and will likely provide consistent tee-to-fairway performance, a strong short game and the willingness to chirp at Dave whenever possible. One underrated aspect of Mike’s game, is the ability to consume multiple Orange Crush’s while also complaining about Southern PA referees. The FGC welcomes Mike and anticipates that he’ll perform better than his last 2-man appearance in the Hamilton Open.

FGC Statement regarding postponement of FGC6

It is with regret we are announcing the postponement of FGC6.

The board has also decided to temporarily suspend all FGC events until we can identify a logical future timeline.

We have pledged from the start to be responsible, thoughtful and transparent with our decision process. We did everything possible to create a safe environment for our members in order to continue the trip this year. But at this time – and as the situation continues to rapidly change – the right thing to do for our members and our fans is to pause.

We will be answering questions at a later date – TBD.
